Faculty Member, Tenure Track

The College of Law seeks to hire one tenure-track position. The Search Committee is interested in hearing from all exceptional candidates, but we are especially interested in applicants with expertise in the following areas: 1) law and technology or 2) business (especially corporate law).  In addition, the College is especially interested in hearing from applicants with expertise in 3) Indigenous law and Indigenous legal theory. Applicants in this area must verify their Indigenous Membership/Citizenship.  At the University of Saskatchewan, verification is determined by the the deybwewin | taapwaywin | tapewin: Indigenous Truth policy.

While it is anticipated that this appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, the College is willing to recruit established scholars at the Associate level if the successful candidate brings a significant and ongoing program of research to the College. The College is committed to the teacher-scholar model and has a commitment to high quality teaching and expects its researchers to engage with our student population in the classroom.  Consequently, in addition to teaching in their area of specialization, the successful candidate will be expected to teach in a major compulsory subject and/or in the first-year program. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will commence their employment on July 1, 2026.

Estey Chair in Business Law

The Estey Chair in Business Law was established in 2014 through the generosity of the Estey Family, as well as through the support of alumni and friends of the College of Law at at the University of Sasktchewan. The Chair was created to honour the late Supreme Court of Canada Justice Willard "Bud" Estey, a proud alumnus of the college. The chair has previously been held by Rod Wood, Cally Jordan, Anna Lund, and Virginia Torrie. It is currently held by Michael Milani for a second term. 

We invite applications from outstanding scholars and practitioners in the field of busienss law, defined broadly as including domestic and international law (including regulation, dispute resolution or institutions), governance, transactions, finance, securities, competition, taxation, insolvency and related areas. 

The college is seeking candidates in two categories: 

  1. Those with a strong academic background and demonstrated academic leadership and teaching skills; OR
  2. Senior and highly experienced legal professionals. 

In either category, the role of the Chair is to engage with faculty colleagues, students and members of the local legal profession and generate enthusiasm about the college's business law programming. The College of Law provides a stimulating, supportive and highly collegial environment in which the Chair can deploy their knowledge and skills to explore new areas of research and to engage with students, experienced academics and senior practitioners. 

The college will consider applications from suitably qualified candidates who wish to occupy the Chair in the 2026-27 academic year. While the date for appointment is flexible, the contemplated start date is July 1, 2026. The college will begin reviewing applications in December 2025.

Law Foundation of Saskatchewan H. Robert Arscott Chair

The College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan invites outstanding candidates with an interest in the scholarly investigation of law and policy to apply for the Law Foundation of Saskatchewan Chair. Past holders include Allan Blakeney, Richard Gosse, Michael Taggart, Alan Cairns, Julien Payne, Denise Réaume, Judith Fudge, John Whyte, John Wade, Annie Rochette, Gemma Smyth, and Glen Gardner. Current chair holders are Kerri Froc and Patricia Barkaskas. 

Candidates in all areas of scholarly interest are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate for the chair will be an academic with an established and significant record of scholarly achievement. He or she will be in residence at the College of Law and be expected to enrich and enhance the intellectual life of the college by pursuing a research program, teaching one course/seminar, delivering a public lecture and planning and hosting a major conference. Appropriate administrative and financial support will be provided to the chair holder, especially concerning research and outreach acitivites. Term length will normally be for one year, but the college will consider terms of less than one year, but no less than one complete academic semester. 

While the date for the appointment is flexible, the contemplated start date is July 1, 2026. Applications will start being considered in December 2025.
