Law Society of Saskatchewan Gold Medal: Brad Heskin

Brad Heskin was born and raised in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He completed his undergraduate degree in Political Studies at the University of Saskatchewan before attending law school.

During law school, Brad developed a strong interest in advocacy and litigation. He especially enjoyed opportunities to build his oral advocacy skills through competitive mooting. One of the highlights of Brad’s law school experience was competing in the Laskin Moot in Toronto, where he placed fifth overall in the oralist category.

Brad was also a member of the Saskatchewan Law Review, where he had the opportunity to engage with legal scholarship and contribute to the publication process.

Brad extends his gratitude to his friends, family, classmates, and the College of Law faculty for their support throughout his studies.

Following graduation, Brad will be articling with MLT Aikins LLP and plans to pursue a career in litigation.

Law Society of Saskatchewan Silver Medal: Ashley King

Ashley was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. Before attending law school, she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with Great Distinction, from the University of Regina.

During her time at USask Law, Ashley served as a member of the Editorial Board for the Saskatchewan Law Review for two years. She is grateful to have had two of her case comments selected for publication.

A highlight of Ashley’s law school experience was participating in the various mentorship opportunities offered at the college. In her upper years, Ashley was fortunate to serve as a Teaching Assistant for the first-year Legal Research and Writing Course, a Dispute Resolution Mentor for the DR Program, and an upper-year sibling for the Sibling Match Program.

After graduation, Ashley will be clerking at the Court of King’s Bench for Saskatchewan in Regina.

Law Society of Saskatchewan Bronze Medal: Drake Bodie

Drake Bodie grew up in Thompson, Manitoba. Before attending law school, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Brandon University.

During law school, Drake served as an Editor for the Saskatchewan Law Review, captain of the Class of 2026 hockey team, and Social Coordinator for the University of Saskatchewan Law Students’ Association.

A highlight of Drake’s law school experience has been the collegiality and strong sense of community within the college. USask Law is often dubbed the “friendliest law school in Canada,” and for Drake, it has lived up to that reputation. Living in Saskatoon for the past three years, Drake is grateful to have formed lifelong friendships and created memories that will stay with him throughout his career.

Following graduation, Drake will be articling with Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer in Calgary.

The College of Law is thankful to the Law Society of Saskatchewan for its continued support of these awards.

Together we will support and inspire students to succeed. We invite you to join by supporting current and future students' needs at USask.
