Buhler appointed interim associate dean, research and graduate studies
The interim term will last until June 30, 2027.
By USask Law CommunicationsProfessor Sarah Buhler was appointed Interim Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies at the University of Saskatchewan College of Law (USask Law) effective Oct. 1.
Her appointment will continue until June 30, 2027. Buhler takes over from Dr. Ibironke Odumosu-Ayanu, who became dean of the college on Oct. 1.
Buhler joined the faculty at USask Law in 2010. Prior to that, she had practised law at a Saskatoon firm and taught as a sessional lecturer at the college. She was also executive director and supervising lawyer at Community Legal Assistance Services for Saskatoon Inner City (CLASSIC).
She teaches classes in housing, homelessness and the law, legal ethics and professionalism, and intensive clinical law.
Her book, Legal Unhousing: Power, Rights and Housing Precarity, which she co-edited Anna Lund of the University of Alberta Faculty of Law, was published by UBC Press in September 2026.
Buhler graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2002, receiving several academic prizes and a Dean’s Letter of Recognition for Cumulative Academic Excellence for her standing in the top three per cent of her class. She was called to the Bar in Saskatchewan in 2003, receiving the Saskatoon Bar Association Award for highest standing in the provincial bar admission examinations.
Sarah is the recipient of the University of Saskatchewan Award for Distinction in Outreach and Engagement, the Provost’s College Award for Outstanding Teaching, and the University of Saskatchewan Award for Distinction in Community Engaged Teaching and Scholarship. In 2023, she received the University of Saskatchewan Alumni Achievement Award for Outstanding Impact.
