Are you a 2L that wants to summer in Calgary (Edmonton) in 2027? The University of Saskatchewan will be scheduling all OCI interviews, remotely, in MT, where the firms reside.
These interviews are specifically for 2L law students for upcoming 2027 summer positions. The legal employers participating are from Calgary and maybe Edmonton. Interview lengths have been increased from 17 minutes to 20 minutes allowing for 20 interview timeslots for each of the participating firms, should they decide to host a full schedule.
The interview portion of the day continues to proceed, remotely.
USask College of Law has posted positions of those firms who will be participating in the Remote OCI process, in CareerLink – College of Law Job Postings, with a deadline of Monday, August 18th, 2025, at 11:59 pm CST. Additional firms/organizations may also have postings in CareerLink – College of Law, and will be conducting interviews on a day of their choosing.

- Applications due: These vary by law school, depending on when you host your on-campus interviews. If you have OCIs earlier in the year than other law schools, then your school's deadline for applications will be earlier.
- USask Deadline for USask Students to apply to Calgary: Monday, August 17, 2026 @11:59 PM CST
- Deadline for OCI Student Selections: Thursday, August 27th, 2026
- Firm/Organization interview schedule available and supplied by USask: Thursday, Sept. 3rd, 2026
- In Firm Interview Week will take place from Monday, October 5 - Friday, Oct. 9th, 2026, and will be held in-person with the exception such as government. This includes any meetings - coffee chats, meals, networking events, and tours.
- Prior to On-Campus Interviews/First Interviews
- Firms can respond to unsolicited email and phone inquiries from 2L students at any time during the year. Prior to a student's campus OCI date / first interview date, communication with students can take place as follows, when the purpose is not for recruitment but to provide more information about the firm:
- a) lawyers and professionals who are involved in student hiring decisions are not permitted to have face-to-face meetings (in-person or virtual) with a student; however they are permitted to respond to phone and email inquiries when initiated by a student; and
- b) lawyers and professionals who are not involved in student hiring decisions are permitted to have face-to-face meetings (in-person or virtual), email, or phone communications with a student when initiated by the student.
- Virtual On Campus Interviews (OCIs) will be held remotely on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026.
- Non-OCI students - Firms have agreed to adhere to the NALP OCI schedule and only hold interviews on an alternate day if they are interviewing two or fewer students from that law school, referred to as “one-off first interviews”. “One-off first interviews” must be held after that student’s designated OCI date(s).Except to acknowledge receipt of students' applications, firm-initiated contact with non-OCI students will not be permitted until noon on the day after the OCI schedule interview lists from that school have been released. Then, while also adhering to subsection 5 of this protocol, a firm may contact the student(s) to schedule a first interview and/or to invite a student to a dinner. Firms may not contact them on the date of a student's applicable OCI date.Interviews for non-OCI candidates must be limited to the length of a student's applicable OCIs (17 or 20 minutes in most cases).
- Firms have agreed to wait until OCIs at any given law school / non-OCI first interviews are complete before offering students interviews during the in-firm interview period (as outlined in Section 9 of this Protocol). Firms will not be allowed to contact students prior to 6 p.m., once OCIs for that law school are fully complete, including offering students interviews for the in-firm interview period and rejection emails.
- If a firm schedules first interviews during the in-firm interview period, those interviews do not need to be limited to the typical OCI interview length (i.e. 17 or 20 minutes).

- No offers, intention to offer, or solicitation of students’ intention to accept an offer with any given firm shall be communicated to any student prior to the Offer Date and time (as outlined in Section 14 of this Protocol).
- Offer Date: Offers will commence no earlier than Friday, October 9, 2026, 2:00 pm MT
- Black-out: One hour prior to the offer time, firms will not contact students. Firms will be allowed to respond to student inquiries.
- Offers may be extended to second-year students on the Offer Date and will remain open for six (6) hours. *****Please note that we coach our students to go into offer day with their ranking so they can make decisions promptly and not hold up the process.
