Information Asymmetry in Corporate Transactions

Corporate acquisitions are often characterized by "information asymmetry." Put simply, sellers have more information about companies being sold than potential buyers. This lack of information can reduce prices that buyers are willing to pay or prevent transactions entirely.

In this talk, professor Hutchison will draw on real-world examples to explain the concept of information asymmetry, showing that much of transactional practice involves solving problems of imperfect information.
