Edney kicks off 2015 McKercher Lecture Series
On Wednesday, Sept. 9, Guest Speaker Dennis Edney, QC, Counsel for Omar Khadr, kicked of the McKercher Lecture Series at the College of Law.
Edney received a standing ovation from event attendees filling the MLT lecture theatre to capacity.
Dennis Edney practices criminal and human rights law, and cases being tried under the new terrorist legislation. Edney is listed as counsel in various reported cases, including appearances before the Supreme Court of Canada, most notably R. v Mills and Canada v. Khadr. In 2004, he was appointed as Foreign Attorney Consultant by the U.S. Pentagon to participate in the defence of Mr. Omar Khadr, a young Canadian detained in Guantanamo By, Cuba.
